A Very Special Family Who Need Help!!!

This family lives a few kilometers from our Mission Site.  We first knew the oldest boy, now 13, a few years ago.  He fell out of a tree, helping his Dad in the fields.  They did not seek immediate help from us.  When they did come, Ramon was suffering from a double compound fracture in one of his lower legs, and was badly infected.  WE PROVIDED EMERGENCY CARE AND A WORKER ACCOMPANIED, FATHER AND SON BY AMBULANCE, TO GUATEMALA CITY AND ROOSEVELT HOSPITAL. THIS IS A GOVERNMENT INSTITUTION, WITH MANY OF THE BEST  SPECIALISTS.  HE SPENT TWO MONTHS IN THE CITY HOSPITAL, TWO  SURGERIES THEN RETURNED TO US FOR SPECIALIZED CARE.  MAGALÍ FOLLOWED HIS CARE CLOSELY SO THERE WAS FOLLOW UP CARE WITH SURGEONS, AT ROOSEVELT MEDICAL CENTER. 
              
              IN VISITING THE FAMILY, MAGDALI, DIRECTOR OF THE CLINICA MAXEÑA                DISCOVERED ONE OF THEIR CHILDREN WAS BORN DISABLED.  SHE                              COULD NOT SIT,  SPEAK OR STAND.  MAGALÍ, WITH SUPPORT OF AN                             INSTITUTION, THAT OFFERS CARE AND GUIDANCE TO THE FAMILY, THE                   CHILD, HEALTH   IMPROVED.  TODAY THE CHILD CAN SIT ALONE, CRAWL                A  LITTLE,  THE CLINIC PAYS EXPENSES FOR THIS MOM TO CONTINUE TO
              TAKE THE CHILD MONTHLY FOR FOLLOW UP-  THE CHILD SMILES NOW,
             THESE TYPE OF DISABILITIES ARE RESULT OF POOR ASSIST AND 
              KNOWLEDGE OF  MIDWIFE AT BIRTH. NOW THERE ARE GOVERNMENT                      FACILITIES AVAILABE IN CENTER VILLAGES WITH PRENATAL CARE BY                      DOCTORS AND 24 HOUR DELIVERIES BY PHYSICIANS.  THERE ARE STILL                  MAYAN WOMEN WHO CHOOSE A MIDWIFE WITH, LITTLE KNOWLEDGE                    OR EXPERIENCE.

"Wendy Carolina", A MIRACLE CHILD

Wendy comes from a mountain village, several kilometers from the Clinica Maxeña.  She comes to NUTRITION SUPPORT GROUP MONTHLY.  All the children who have passed consult with our DOCTOR, and found to be malnourished and under weight are given Formula, according to their need.  They do not pay for the Formula or consult with the doctor.  They also receive their medicine without cost at the CLINICA MAXEÑA. Some of the fathers do come to the MISSION to cut grass and chop wood once a month, to help with expense of formula and Medical Care..  WENDY is a Special Child. She was born prematurely, at 6 months pregnancy, in the nearby National Hospital. 30 de JULIO, 2018 GOOD AFTERNOON FRIENDS and FAMILY FROM OUR HOME, AND IN GUATEMALA! I GREET YOUR ONCE MORE FROM THE CLINICA MAXEÑA! I hope this finds all well and content for all our family and friends. It is Monday so the Clinica is busy with patients.  Our Doctor Jorge Castro sees up to 15 patients in the morning, and  others wait until after lunch for consult.  Our Chemical Laboratory is always a busy service. We have received many important Chemical Lab Machines and Reagents. We are also fortunate, with generous donations, from our Diocese Donors, to have an EKG Machine, and Ultrasound and printer. There is a  lot more poverty, unemployment, and hunger in our area.  In our Clinic, we decreased percentages of several workers, so not to cut our budget of Medicines and Charity to patients in 2018..  One of our infant Patients, just left the Operating Room, in the Roosevelt Hospital, in Guatemala City.  Sindy Ajqui Tzoc is 11 months old....
