1989! THERE ARE TWO jORNADAS EACH YEAR! WE ADVERTISE FOR
ALL WITH THIS NEED. SINCE THE BEGINNINGS, THOSE WITH FINANCIAL NEED HAVE NOT PAID THE $100. REQUESTED, FOR CATARACT SURGERY. THEY ARE INTERVIEWED BY "MIGUEL", A WORKER OF THE CLINIC FOR MORE THAN 50 YEARS. EXTRA FUNDS PAY FOR EXTRA WORKERS, IN THE KITCHEN, OPERATING ROOM, IN CONSULT AND AS TRANSLATORS. THERE
ARE CARETAKERS 24 HOURS FOR THOSE OPERATED. NIGHT GUARDS ALSO
ARE PRESENT FOR TWENTY FOUR HOURS. THEIR POST OP CARE IS BY
A GUATEMALAN OPTHALMOLOIST WHO WORKS WITH US IN THIS PROJECTS. ONE OR TWO OF NURSES ACCOMPANY THE PATIENTS FOR FOLLOW UP CARE, IN OUR VEHICLES. DR TIM MCINNIS, ALSO MONTANA
OPTHALMOLOGIST IS A REGULAR PARTICIPANT. ALL OUR WORKERS
PARTICIPATE, WHILE DOCTOR JORGE, THE CLINIC MAYAN PHYSICIAN
HAS CONSULT FOR OTHER PATIENTS, AS DAILY. THIS CLINIC HAS ALWAYS
SERVED THE MOST POOR, BUT DOORS OPEN TO ALL.
