"A VERY SPECIAL CHILD AND FRIEND"


       I have known Karla and her family since she first became ill, three years ago.  She is very small           for her age.  She will be  16 years old this month. She lives with her family, parents and siblings         in a small village about 30 minutes from here.  She is studying here in Santo Tomas, but has had
       to take time off again, for treatment of her illness.  Please remember her in PRAYER! Her
       condition is very serious! THANK YOU!!
   
      The Clinica Maxeña has been in existence since 1966.  Over the years, we have made very good           contacts with Specialists in Guatemala City and other Hospitals.  There are Specialists from the           Unites States who have offered their expertise as VOLUNTEERS.  The Clinica Maxeña 
       welcomes Opthalmologist TEAMS from California and Montana, twice a year, for more than              twenty years.  They perform consult and surgeries, including many Cataract surgeries.  Other             Mission Clinics and Hospitals, in Guatemala, offer other specialities and surgeries, and we
       are fortunate to participate in these services.  We also send many patients to National Cancer
       Institutions, "INCAN" for ADULT PATIENTS and "UNOP"  for Children.  Over the years we
       have made important contacts and friendships with these Specialists. We send patients to                     National Hospitals, especially the Roosevelt Hospital, the largest Government Service in the
       country.  In the nearby city, Matzatenango, we have special, and excellent, Physicians who assist
       us in Emergencies and References!! THANK YOU ALL WHO MAKE OUR SERVICE
